Synthesis of functional polymer
Our research group is specialized on the synthesis of well-defined functional polymer architectures. We have developed a versatile portfolio of chemical transformations for the modification of polymers that allow a flexible functionalization of polymer, block copolymers, surfaces and templated polymer objects with unprecedented precision.
In particular stimuli-responsive polymers are of interest. We focus on multiple-stimuli, such as temperature, pH, light and redox. Also bioconjugation of synthetic polymers with biologically relevant polymers, such as proteins, are investigated.
With a versatile surface functionalization toolbox in hands, we have created stimuli-responsive surfaces that respond to stimulation by temperature, pH or light. Additionally, the patterning of surfaces has led to nanostructured surfaces with specialized properties.
